Communion
Our Creator is a relational Being! In Eden, He enjoyed coming, “in the cool of the day” (Genesis 2:8) to be with our first parents! The Lord also placed in the heart of mankind the desire for communion with their peers. The feeling of alienation and loneliness causes suffering. The sensation of not belonging to someone results in bitter, insecure, and unrestful people. And Saturday is a day of communion! First, communion with our Creator God! Moments when we can praise Him and worship Him, while at the same time feeling His love more present! It is also a day for family communion! In this busy life, we often have little time available to be with our children and spouse! On Saturday, we have that time available! We must take advantage of it! The Sabbath rest also provides us with pleasant moments for meeting friends! Cultivating good friendships gives us the opportunity to develop true love for those who live close to us! The psalmist exclaims: “How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalms 133:1) May this Saturday, in addition to worshiping and praising our Creator, we dedicate time to develop and cultivate good relationships! Happy Sabbath!

Worship
We are living in crucial moments of history. Violence, disrespect, irreverence, wars, and rumors of wars all point to the soon return of Jesus (Matthew 24:6–14). But God has a special message for these days. It says: “…worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water” (Revelation 14:7). And the Sabbath is the day set apart for worship. In a hedonistic and skeptical society that seeks pleasure at any cost and forgets God, the Sabbath reminds us of the Creator God – who, with His immense love, created the earth, the sea, and everything in them, and in this perfect environment placed human beings to enjoy it (Genesis 1). And who, even after the rebellion of sin, was willing to come, live as a man, and die on a cross to save humanity (Philippians 2:6–8). May this immense love be the reason for our worship on this day. Let us follow the psalmist: “…worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness” (Psalm 29:2). Let us worship and praise our Creator God! Happy Sabbath!

Praise
The Sabbath is a day of joy expressed through our praise! “A glad heart makes a cheerful face…” (Proverbs 15:13). As we take part in praise on this day, let us follow the words of the psalmist: “Hallelujah! Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in His mighty heavens! Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with the lute and harp. … Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Hallelujah!” (Psalm 150). Free from the problems and worries of daily life, our praise flows from a joyful heart. Our praise expresses the genuine joy of salvation in Christ Jesus. On this day, blessed and sanctified by the Creator, let us express all our joy with hymns of praise. Let us praise our God with our voices. Happy Sabbath!

Rest
Stress and anxiety are hallmarks of modern society. Physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion are the result. But the Creator set apart a day for rest. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” On it, “…you shall not do any work…” He commanded (Exodus 20:8, 10). Then Jesus invites us: “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). And the psalmist advises: “Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him, and He will act” (Psalms 37:5). Perfect rest is not a human achievement; it is a gift from God. It is an experience that comes to us when we allow Christ to bring harmony to our lives. “I will give you rest,” He promised! And the Sabbath begins with rest. The first blessing of the Sabbath is true rest! Let us experience this Sabbath the rest prepared by our Creator. Then, free from worries and with joy, let us praise and worship our Creator God. Happy Sabbath!

Memorial
Creation was finished! And God saw that everything He had created was “very good”; it was perfect! (Genesis 1:31). Then He made a surprising decision – one that was completely unexpected! To celebrate Creation, He established a Monument. Not a physical monument, not a place chosen in some location, but a space in time, which He dedicated to communion with human beings. “So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy…” (Genesis 2:3). Thus, He established a Memorial of Creation! A Sanctuary; a Temple; a Cathedral; in time! Accessible to anyone, anywhere, and at any moment in history. There was no need for a pilgrimage to a specific place. This Cathedral in time would graciously be available to His children every week. And the Sabbath becomes the Memorial of Creation! A moment to celebrate the goodness and salvation of God. A reminder that we are sons and daughters of a loving God, of a Creator God. May our worship on this day demonstrate our recognition of the Lord as our Creator. Happy Sabbath!
